MANDATE

•The purpose of our society will be to provide a source of funding to Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS).

•They are the largest immigrant/refugee serving agency in Atlantic Canada.

•More than 900 Syrian government-assisted refugees have entered Nova Scotia so far in 2016.

•Many refugees, did not previously have accessible healthcare

•Applying for Canadian healthcare coverage and connecting with medical professionals is a health-related complication.

•ISANS have been able to help remove barriers and allow hundreds of refugees face to get access to healthcare upon arriving in Nova Scotia.

•We also seek to raise awareness amongst Dalhousie students and faculty of the challenges that refugees must overcome when trying to get settled in Canada.
